My name is Marc Bousquet (booskay), and people call me The Watch Fixer. There's no doubt about it; I'm a watch guy. I love wearing them, collecting them, fixing and restoring them. I buy them and I sell them. I have been working on my personal watches as a hobby for nearly 25 years now. In August of 2020, I started my watch repair service to offer convenient, reasonably priced watch repair services in the Raleigh-Durham metro area, and nationwide through the mail.
I offer my services by appointment, but walk-ins with simpler requests are welcome too. The advantage of having an appointment is that you can be certain that I'll be here when you arrive and won't be out running errands or otherwise away from the shop.
Many online mail-order watch repair websites want you to believe they have a “team of highly trained Swiss watch experts" standing ready to service your watch. They even post stock photography of watch technicians in their tidy white lab coats hunched over their all-white benches in an all-white laboratory somewhere in the Swiss Alps. It's almost comical. I SAY THAT IT'S PURE MARKETING FLUFF AND NOTHING MORE. They're trying to fake you out by painting a picture that most likely doesn't even remotely exist.
At THE WATCH FIXER, the "team" consists of just me, hunched over my humble watch repair bench here in Durham, North Carolina. While it is true that I have been to Switzerland, and it's also true that I have been to school, it's also true that I have never been to any school in Switzerland. What you get from me is honest, laser-focused personal attention to your watch servicing needs. I like to think that I know what I’m doing, and my goal is to prove that to you by way of a pleasurable watch repair experience. If you should ask me to perform any service that is beyond my skills, I am humble and honest enough to let you know it up front.
I am focused on providing reasonably-priced, quality watch service for most common mechanical and quartz watch repair issues, including battery replacement, accuracy adjustment via digital timegrapher, crown and stem replacement, crystal restoration or replacement, date magnifier (cyclops) installation, movement replacement, full mechanical restorations, quartz jump starts, water pressure testing, hand re-installation, custom watch builds and modifications, bracelet repairs and adjustments, cleaning and polishing and a host of other services.
I WILL ALWAYS TREAT YOUR WATCH WITH THE SAME CARE AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL THAT I USE WHEN WORKING ON MY OWN WATCHES!
I provide complete repair services for most watch brands. I perform many (but, not all) repairs on expensive luxury watches such as Rolex, IWC, Panerai, Breitling, Cartier, and others. IF YOU OWN A "REPLICA" VERSION OF ANY HIGH-DOLLAR LUXURY WATCH I'LL BE HAPPY TO WORK ON IT FOR YOU. Just send me a message. I have extensive experience servicing vintage and modern mechanical movements.
I CAN QUICKLY EVALUATE AND DIAGNOSE YOUR WATCH AT NO CHARGE. I'll provide you with a reasonable ballpark quote of what it should cost to get the job completed. Most repairs are accomplished within a week or two, but there are always exceptions to this general timeframe.
Many common watch repairs can be completed for less than $50. Battery replacement for everyday watches using a standard battery is $20 plus NC sales tax. Battery replacement for premium watches like Tag Heuer, Movado, IWC, Omega, Cartier, and other higher-end brands is $35 plus NC tax. A few watch models require moderate disassembly and will cost more. For Citizen Eco-Drive, Seiko Kinetic, and other watches using a 15-year rechargeable battery/capacitor power cell, there is an additional $30-$50 charge to cover the cost of the special battery, and the slightly more time-consuming installation process. I will NEVER put a no-name battery in your watch; I use only quality, name-brand watch batteries like Energizer, Panasonic, Renata, Maxell, Duracell and Sony/Murata. My battery change service includes a full 12-month parts and labor warranty!
So, if you'd like to get your watch fixed, or to make arrangements to come by and do some shopping, please send me a message, and let me know what you'd like to do. It will be helpful if you can let me know the brand and model number of the watch you need to be repaired, and what the watch is doing or what it's not doing. That's all that I'll need to get things started. I'll be sure to get back to you within 24 hours. Thanks for visiting!
